In order to create an institutional EDI file, the insurance company will need to only be set up for printing UB-04. If you normally create Professional EDI files, and want to create an Institutional for one batch, you can temporary take away the CMS1500 ability.
First navigate to the Insurance Company under List Maintenance
Next, click on the insurance to open. Scroll down to the Print CMS-1500 / UB-04 section
If both are ticked, when you create an EDI file, it will create a Professional file. To get an Institutional file, only have the "Print UB-04" ticked.
Now when you create an EDI for the batch, it will make an Institutional file
The EDI file will show in the Fiscal folder when complete, and you can know its an Institutional EDI by the "I" in the file name
If the file prints with a "P", its a professional. If you see that, you will want to check to make sure that no other batches in the "Included batches" are set up for CMS-1500.
If you needed to turn off CMS-1500 to print the batch, make sure you re-enable CMS-1500 under the payer.
